by on Nov. 17, 2010, under USA Today Sports

Anna Kournikova, 29, may no longer be an active player on the WTA Tour but that doesn’t mean she has stepped away from tennis.

The Moscow-born Kournikova reached No. 1 in the world in doubles in 1999 and won two Grand Slam doubles titles with Martina Hingis. Now, she focuses her competitive energy on World TeamTennis, where she has played for eight consecutive years.

Kournikova, who recently became a U.S. citizen, also spends a great deal of her time on charitable endeavors. Kournikova participated in the World TeamTennis Smash Hits charity tennis event co-hosted by the tennis legend Billie Jean King and legendary musician Sir Elton John Nov. 15, in Washington.

Before taking the court with some of the biggest names in tennis, including Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, Kournikova took time out to answer five questions from USA TODAY.
