The legendary Beroe and Bulgaria football player Petko Petkov has died after a short illness, the club’s website told.

Petko Petkov was born on 3 august 1946.

Club legend of “Beroe” (Stara Zagora), for which he has 260 matches with 144 goals in “A” group and 92 matches with 89 goals in “B” group. Two-time Group A goal scorer in 1974 (with 20 goals) and in 1976 (with 19 goals). In the 1974/75 season, he scored a record 51 goals in the B Group. He also scored 14 goals for Beroe in the Euro tournaments – 9 in the UEFA Cup and 5 in the CNC.

The “A” group also has 20 matches with 8 goals for Academic (Svishtov).

Champion and winner of the Austrian Cup with the team of Austria (Vienna), for which he has 51 matches with 10 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Petko Petkov grew up in the village of Sinitovo, Pazardzhik municipality. As a student he plays football at Lokomotiv (September). Subsequently, he played for the teams of Battery Plant (Pazardzhik), Rodopa (Smolyan), Miner (Rudozem) and Gorubso (Madan).

On October 29, 1967, on the day of his wedding, Petkov scored 5 goals for Gorubso by 5-0 against Arda (Kardzhali) in a Group B match, his appearances being noticed by Beroe’s leadership “.
