2010 Ride BMX NORA Cup Nominees

Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Digg Stumble It More...

Three weeks of hassling pros and here’s where we stand. The top fives for the 2010 Ride BMX NORA Cup, as chosen by the pros themselves, in ramp, street, dirt, flat, race, video, and video part. All the votes have been cast and the winners will be announced September 23rd at The Pearl Theatre inside The Palms. And, for the first time ever, this will be an all ages event. (Full event info is at the bottom.) Many thanks to our sponsors, DC Shoes, Red Bull, The Palms, and wethepeople.

This year’s voting came down to the wire in more than a few categories. Top fives were hard to get in dirt and video, and you may notice that more than a few amazing videos are not in the top five (Let’s Get Mystical and Surfin’ For The Ugly Broads, to name two obvious ones). It’s been a good year for BMX DVDs with nearly 40 produced in the last year, and it just goes to show that the state of the DVD is as strong as ever. Also noteworthy is that two categories this yea were tied up until the end…if you think you can pick a clear winner in every category, you’d be wrong. There are guaranteed to be a couple of surprises this year. Without further banter, here are the top five nominees…

  3. jbee says:

Its pretty stupid that Brett B is nowhere on the list. Double frontfip not on a mega ramp, cash roll, and plenty of huge wins this year…what has gary young and chase hawk done this year on ramps that has changed riding???

    • Bmx4life says:

i know gary and chase can ride good but they are nowhere near top riders.. they just get picked for popularity not for riding.

      • brownieman says:

they go faster and higher than most riders. it's not all about circus tricks. going fast, high and making sharp turns with style is amazing to watch.

  4. wtf says:

How is Burn's video not on here?

  5. dusty says:

reading this is like watching mtv who cares if someone wins or isnt nominated go ride you bikes

  6. Beef says:

This is the exact reason they leave the voting up to the real pros.

  7. trailrider1111 says:

    Jamie Bestwick
    Corey Bohan
    Garrett Reynolds
    Terry Adams
    Sam Willoughby
Dakota Roche - Let ‘Em Talk
    Range of Motion (Ride BMX)

  8. pegasus says:

    1. Its dirt rider of the year so Brett should be on both dirt and ramp
    2. If you watch hawk's part in Cult you will see why he is nominated for "RAMP" rider which is not necessarily best trick rider
    3. By far Garret Reynolds bio is the best vid part. theres stuff in there that no other street rider would even think about doing.

  9. Pewp says:

If there was any truth behind these awards there would be a significantly smaller proportion of American nominees…no matter really seeing as it probably wont be changing any time in the near future, someday BMX will be as international as it thinks it is.

    • old guy says:

I am not sure what you are talking about …. international …. Corey Bohan and Jamie Bestwick …. can't get more international than that.

  10. Troy says:

How the ell did Range of Motion and Birth of Big Air get picked over Let's Get Mystical???? That is disgusting!! NORA really is just a pile of cack now isn't it…

    • Balis says:

Let's Get Mystical was far better than Let Em' Talk too! Who the hell voted for these??!! As a crazed BMXer I would like to know who is behind this!!

      • Over 275 pros returned votes for this year's NORA Cup. Ride does not pick "nominees" or people to be voted on. It's purely open voting by pros only (it's fill in the blank for each category, not choose off a list). Who they tell us they think should win are the names that are tallied. The only "list" we give them is a list of every video that has come out in the past year. After taking votes for a month, the top five are the ones listed here and shown at NORA Cup. It's as fair and unbiased as it gets. If you don't like the guys listed, take it up with any and every pro rider, not Ride BMX. —Keith

  11. DUL says:

nora cup is voted on by the pros and people who matter in BMX not the god damn dew tour results ,learn something fools

  12. somedude says:

BIRTH OF BIG AIR!!!! mat hoffman > any new video.

  13. Sean says:

I hope someone other than garrett wins for once. I'm sick of him already, even though he does shred, its not super creative. bar in and out of every trick? clever.

    • mr.obama says:

well put about garrett they make way to much over him there are way more stylish riders out there that should get a chance to win it like dak or nathan williams

  14. ryan says:

Man!… Mike Aitken, I'm glad he won

  15. justaflatlander2 says:

NORA looks like a joke more n more…..U guys have no clue about flatland at all for example….this 5 nominated is a joke! ..Terry? why?…'cause most of the american riders know him well…Jesse? this year? cmon…..sorry to say, but this is bullsh*t….its all about who's friends with this guy or that guy….lame.

  16. theman says:

Other riders invented more tricks only this year than Terry during the last 3 years…not to mention winning contests…I rather put Matt Wilhelm on Terry's place…easily.

  17. shedderr4 says:

What about Brandon Dosch why is he not on the list? thats crazy

  18. kris says:

dew tour isnt dirt. trails are dirt. dew tour is a circus and nora cup shouldnt be judged by dew tour, and thats what the pros did so get over it

  19. jason says:

Garrett Reynolds without a doubt best street rider up till now.
Jamie Bestwick without a doubt best vert rider…for the rest let the other decide…

  20. justaflatlander3 says:

Justaflatlander2 why dont you become a pro rider and then you can vote. the pros voted for the other pros. has nothing to do with what you said. Go sign up on the haterade forums you might do good in there.

    • flander2 says:

No hate here at all…its just not fair…the flatland bmx's center in not usa anymore…so lots of ppl not really knowing whats going on..just an example Adam Kun won the BMX masters pro flat this year,..and he is not on the list. Where is Viki Gomez? Terry is always on the list since years. why?.

  21. Beef says:

You kids would vote for SpongeBob if he was on the list.

  22. mr.obama says:

het idiot kabob … everybody knows lol is a child-like term f-ck munch

  23. squidward says:

hey beef i look in your bedroom window everynight and see you masterbating to spongebob so shut up

  24. Patrick says:

    Whatcha talkin" bout' Willis?

  25. mr. crabs says:
