World Theatre Day

First launched in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute, World Theatre Day is celebrated on 27 March throughout the world.

Every year, a personality well known for his/her good will and intellectual merits is invited to share thoughts on the theme of theatre and peace.  This year, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Governor of the Emirate of Sharjah is the author of the “International Message for World Theatre Day 2007”.  Convinced of  the theatre’s potential as a tool for dialogue and rallying together, the Sheikh has recently created the Sharjah Prize for theatrical creativity.
