Canada and the U.S. enjoy one of the most
productive trading relationships in the world
More than $700 billion worth of goods flow between the Canada/US border each year, including close to $4 billion in softwood lumber from British Columbia alone.
Americans’ demand for softwood lumber, including to repair, remodel and build new homes, exceeds what U.S. mills can produce, which is why Canadian producers are relied on to step in and fill that supply gap with quality, sustainably-produced lumber.
Unfair U.S. tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber continues to harm American consumers, along with Canadian forest product workers, companies and communities who rely on a strong, sustainable sector for their livelihoods.
