Original Shape Actor Playing Michael Myers in ‘Halloween’ 2018! [Exclusive]

Original Shape Actor Playing Michael Myers in ‘Halloween’ 2018! [Exclusive]

In 1978, John Carpenter gave birth to Michael Myers in Halloween, a masked maniac hellbent on killing babysitters in the small town of Haddonfield, IL.  The killer known simply as “The Shape” will be returning 40 years later to finish the job.

Bloody Disgusting learned and exclusively confirmed that actor, director, and screenwriter, Nick Castle, will return to the role of Michael Myers in Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax’s Halloween, which will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, October 19, 2018.

While Castle will be pulling on the infamous mask once more,  Bloody Disgusting was also able to confirm that stunt performer and actor James Jude Courtney has also been cast to play Myers!

It gets even better.

Also coming on board is Academy Award-winning make-up and VFX artist, Christopher Nelson (Suicide Squad, Deadpool, Sin City, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2)!

As previously announced, Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode in next year’s Halloween, which will take place after the original classic and disregard *all* of the sequels. Judy Greer has been cast to play Karen Strode, Laurie’s daughter, while Andi Matichak recently landed the coveted role of the film’s young lead (daughter to Greer and granddaughter to Curtis). It’s a full-blown family affair!

In David Gordon Green’s Halloween co-written by Danny McBride“Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”

While Castle originated the iconic role in John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic, Tony Moran also donned the infamous Michael Myers mask in the film.  Carpenter will score, executive produce and serve as a consultant on the film.

So far it has all the ingredients to be the most legit horror film from a franchise we’ve gotten in years!

  • James

    Ok now this is awesome

  • Yahauntas

Damnnn this is going to be sooooo good!

  • pablitonizer

The mask design is what matters!!

    • J Jett

EXACTLY! i said the same thing! it’s the mask that is make or break here.

      • pablitonizer

Mr J Jett always making a great point!

      • Saturn

I wonder what the response would be if this time around The Shape wore a different mask? Not the Shatner mask he is famed for?
Personally, I believe a mask of Johnathon Schaech is the way to go, to actually make the character LEGENDARY!

        • Creepshow

See, I knew you were a poser. I divulged that “inside scoop” weeks and weeks ago. You sir, are a 34th degree lying swine. Turn in your card. For your tomfoolery, you are receiving a lifetime ban from the Schaechimus Maximus stalker club. Begone you turnip!

          • Saturn

            I am a sinner.

          • Creepshow

            I’m a joker.
            I’m a smoker.
            I’m a mid-night toker.

          • Saturn

You’re the cutest thing that I ever did see
I really love your peaches, want to Schaech your tree
            Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time
Oee baby I’ll sure show you a good time

            Ahem.

          • Creepshow

I’ll run it by high command, but I think you just sweet talked your way back on the stalker team.

  • Cappy Tally

    …Holy shit.

  • Kane

they really are tryharding with this idea in order to sell it. damn shame too… as a huge fan of the franchise overall (sans Slob Robbies white trash porns) i can see right through this shit and have yet to be excited over anything theyve mentioned thus far. i would have been more excited if they continued the series after resurrection. either way ill watch it and hold full judgement until then but i really cant be excited for it

  • MySelfDestruct

I love Nick and he’s done some great directing in the years since Halloween and this sounds good in theory but he hasn’t acted in years. Granted, its a man behind a mask but it does require some acting. This feels like fan service and I love to be pandered to but not sure exactly how I feel tbh. Not trying to be a downer but I’ll say I am cautiously optimistic.

  • Nicolas Caiveau

They can do as much fan service as they want, this still looks like a total WTF. They could have simply make a regular sequel, pretending Laurie did survive in Resurrection and then just don’t mention the parts they don’t like. Absolutely no need to retcon anything.

People will be so messed up watching this movie. Between those who will think it’s Rob Zombies Halloween 3, the one who won’t understand why Jamie Lee Curtis is still alive and has another daughter….

    • Saturn

Indeed, it could easily be retconned that she actually survived that fall in HR, and has been left permanently paralysed from the waist down, and is rebuilding her life in some kind of gated community for the elderly

      • Nicolas Caiveau

I like your theory ! Mine to link it with HR is that Laurie suffers from amnesia and for some reason only remembers the events from H1 x)

        • Saturn

It could explain why she doesn’t remember having a daughter called Jamey!!

          • scream4ever

I personally think that Halloween:H20 didn’t retcon things like many claim. Sure, some of it may be far-fetched, but so is the series as a whole.

          • Officially speaking, it did.

    • I still contest that they have absolutely no reason to acknowledge any of the other sequels. Halloween H20 already definitively erased most of them, along with the maligned Curse of Thorn. If they continue from the H20 timeline, they are stuck with everything that transpired in both H20 and Resurrection (and saying she somehow “survived” her death is just dumb). Continue from Halloween II, the best of the sequels, and they are stuck with the brother/sister connection.

Overall, fan service would be the only logical reason to continue from any of the previous timelines. They’ve got John Carpenter back, so now they can hopefully make a proper sequel to the original. It’s better this than a second reboot that erases EVERYTHING.

      • Nicolas Caiveau

I find it less dumb than an alternate timeline sequel. I mean, pretending she survived and making it a real sequel to Resurrection. Not another reboot. Yeah, I prefer the alternate sequel to that.

        • But we already got two alternate timeline sequels and a full-on reboot. Regardless of unofficial fan theories, the timeline is already splintered. There’s even Halloween III: Season of the Witch, a film that has almost nothing to do with the other Halloween films.

          Timeline 1:
Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween 4, Halloween 5, Halloween 6

          Timeline 2:
Halloween III: Season of the Witch

          Timeline 3:
Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween H20, Halloween: Resurrection

          Timeline 4:
          Rob Zombie’s Halloween and H2

  • Saturn

All we need now is the official announcement that Johnathon Schaech has agreed to appear as Dr Loomis – to show horror cinema how to make the character ICONIC.
He could make the character legendary….

    • Jamie Fretwell

Who??! and he is way too young

    • J Jett

um….he COULD make the character legendary???????
my my my what little faith you have in our master, our God Schaech.
say it with me now…..HE WITHOUT A DOUBT WILL MAKE THE CHARACTER LEGENDARY! 🙂

      • Saturn

It’s okay J, I used the term could purposely to weed out those who don’t have the one True faith.
You passed the test and will be rewarded by upgrading to 4th degree initiate….

        • J Jett

ahhhh, i see how wise you truly are Saturn! is this like Scientology where i have to pay $$$ to move up to the next Schaechology level?

          • Saturn

Oh cynical J, believing that to move up among the ranks of Schaechologist you’d have to pay $$$.
I am offended! No, not just offended, but upset that you would think that I would be involved in some kind of scam to take people’s hard earned dollars off of them!!!

            I only accept Sterling…..

          • J Jett

no no NO!! i didn’t mean that YOU were involved in any scams…..cough….:)

            LOL.

  • festivvl

*spongebob voice* I’m ready I’m ready ready I’m ready I’m ready

  • Creepshow

It doesn’t matter who puts on the rubber mask, and stands there like a dope. The premise is retarded, and it is treating fans like fools. But if people are geeking out to see this meat-wad on screen again, have at it.

  • Blade

That’s really cool. First time since the original!

  • Will Coors

I’m excited, kind of wished they made it that she just faked her death but either way, I’m in!

  • J Jett

IMO it really doesn’t matter who plays Michael. as long as the mask is perfect (like in parts 1 & 2) then that’s really make or break for this film. with Jason Vorhees it’s another thing completely. his movements/mannerisms/etc. were very distinguishable with part 3, part 4 and the 2009 film all having the best unique Jasons (movement-wise/mobility-wise).

  • Alexander Howlin

Sounds good to me. Castle returning to the franchise for the first time since the original film. Seems that they are really trying hard with fan service.

    • Or, you know, just trying to be the proper sequel to the original. After all, most of the films after Halloween II aren’t that good.

  • Finally, some good news pertaining to this film!

  • Nefferson Taveira

This serves to no purpose other than fan service.

    • Why not? He’s exactly the age that Michael Myers would be, and this is a direct sequel to the original. Makes perfect sense. Saying that this is only fan service is like complaining that Laurie not being played by a new actress is only fan service.

    • Stewart peart

Perhaps but to me that walk of Castle made it for me. Off kilter like some dead thing; single minded and bent on destruction. Just watch the final walk he makes at the end towards JLC just before he is shot.

Gets me every time. I’m pumped!

      • Saturn

I wonder if he can still sit up in the same manner?

        • Creepshow

I wonder if he can still weep blood?

    • Eastman420

Its perfect what do you mean

    • Distemp

      So?

    • ragethorn

      Amen.

  • The_Rooster

Love that Nick Castle went on to Direct “The Last Starfighter” and “The boy who could fly”. I just imagine him sitting in the directors chair in full Michael costume just giving the silent death stare to Lance Guest

    • scream4ever

OMG I’m amazed anyone else with a pulse has even heard of The Boy Who Could Fly. Easily one of the most underrated and forgotten films of the 80s.

Castle also directed one of my favorite childhood movies, Dennis the Menace, and Mr. Wrong, Ellen DeGeneres’ only starring film role.

      • A.J.

I remember bits and pieces of The Boy Who Could Fly from when I was a kid. I remember he’s the same dude from Not Quite Human, I think.

    • Draven

Too bad we never got that sequel to Starfighter we were promised some few years back.

  • MrX13

That is awesome news! The original guy to play Michael Myers returning is badass! He and Tyler Mane were truly badass as Michael Myers

  • Brey Compton Arriaga

This is getting even better and better, hope the result is the ultimate sequel that hopefully will live up to the original!

  • ragethorn

A 70 year old Michael Myers? LOL
Can’t wait until Halloween 2031 ignores this movie too.

    • Khy

Laurie will be awoken from her cryogenic sleep.

      • J Jett

        LOL! 🙂

    • What did you expect? Jamie Lee Curtis is 59, and the film is set 40 years after the original.

  • lupe

Ay yi yi… I’m still here for Michael, Jamie and John… WISH Debra was here though. She’s a very special component to these films.

    • J Jett

lupe, YES!! i’m so happy others appreciate just how important/special Debra Hill was to this franchise and just in general. she is definitely missed.

  • Arnold #RipJohnny

    Wow !!!

  • DaddyKo

    Reboot this reboot!

  • Khy

    Next few Halloween ’18 announcements-

“PAUL RUDD RETURNS AS TOMMY DOYLE”
    “DANIELLE HARRIS RETURNS AS JAMIE”
“WENDY KAPLAN RETURNS AS THE GHOST OF TINA!”
“DONALD PLEASENCE WILL RETURN AS CGI DR. LOOMIS!”

EXCLUSIVE- “THIS MOVIE WILL BLOW BUT WE’RE GONNA MASK IT WITH AS MUCH FAN SERVICE AS POSSIBLE!!!”

    • J Jett

can we bring back Nancy Loomis (now Nancy Kyes) as Annie? i really adore her in both HALLOWEEN & THE FOG. 🙂

  • Jenny

i hope they use the original knife too! and maybe the original cameras Carpenter used. this movie will RULE.

    • Tony Harley

Lol at the knife but if they did actually use the same type of camera I’d be down for it.

    • J Jett

      LOL! 🙂

  • llcc1103

Thats fine and all. But it still needs to be good.

  • Tony Harley

I’ve never seen so many people bitch and whine about a horror icons age… who gives a shit how old Michael is?! He survived eight bullets, two more bullets to the eyes, an explosion, etc but omg old age is really gonna hold Michael Myers back!

    • johnhurschelrunion

you are the only rational person to comment about this matter. thank you.

    • dukeblues

I for one like the idea of an older Myers. Loved George P. Wilbur in H6 and he may have been the best one. So kudos for an older Myers.

  • MrTorrance

I figured at first that Nick would just be doing a cameo but according to IMDB, James Jude Courtney has not worked since 2002. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0183921/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
