The College Fund, the annual giving arm for the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, allows Dean Ian Baucom the flexibility to support key priorities of Arts & Sciences, and to take advantage of promising opportunities as they arise throughout the academic year. Unrestricted funds provide seed money for student and faculty research, enhance fellowships for graduate students, and support developing new undergraduate courses, among other operational and academic ventures. Over the years as state support has decreased, contributions from alumni and friends have been critical to the continued success of Arts & Sciences' students and faculty.
Join us in our goals to increase alumni participation and grow unrestricted support. Your gift will make an immedate impact on current and future College 'Hoos.
At its heart, Faculty Forward is a commitment to faculty—the women and men who shape the lives of our students to make their U.Va. experience distinctive. For generations, we have been taught and influenced by extraordinary scholars. But we cannot assume it will always be so. We’ve set an ambitious goal of adding $100 million to the endowment for faculty support and raising an additional $30 million in spendable gifts—and to do it all by June 2016.
A larger endowment will provide permanent and predictable revenue, enabling Arts & Sciences to compete with other top-tier institutions to attract outstanding faculty while rewarding exceptional teaching today. Gifts of any size help, and income from this pooled endowed fund will support faculty excellence at the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

There are numerous strategies to ensure the College’s future through estate, financial, and tax planning. Giving cash or securities is not the only way to support Arts & Sciences. Some planned gifts even pay families income for their lifetimes, before ultimately benefitting the College. Three of the most common planned gift vehicles—bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and gift annuities—are introduced in the documents below. For more details and expert assistance please see your tax advisor, or contact the University’s Office of Gift Planning.
