Who We Are
Orville Schell, Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations, is a long-time China observer, author, journalist and former Dean and Professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
Orville has worked for the Ford Foundation in Indonesia and covered Indochina for magazines such as the Atlantic Monthly and the New Republic. Since then he has written widely for many other magazines and newspapers, including The New Yorker, Time, Harper's, The Nation, the New York Review of Books, Wired, Foreign Affairs, Newsweek, the China Quarterly and the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. He is the author of 14 books, including nine on China, and is currently at work on a new book, an interpretation of the last 100 years of Chinese history.

John Delury is Associate Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations and Director of the China Boom Project. He taught Chinese history and politics at Brown University, and received a PhD in History at Yale.
