I mentioned on this blog that we're having an online chat with guest experts to talk about access to health insurance for people who don't have coverage through work. Specifically, is it easier now to buy insurance if you have a pre-existing condition than it was before reform was passed? Who has benefitted and how?
We will have a top federal official joining the discussion. He is Steve Larsen, director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The chat is scheduled for 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, and it will be available on Courant.com and other Tribune news web sites.
Mr. Larsen will join our three other experts:
Jesse D. McDonald, an independent health insurance broker in Milford, Conn., specializing in individual health insurance programs for Connecticut residents.
Kathy Walsh, a lead examiner in the Connecticut Insurance Department's Consumer Affairs Unit.
Robert Zirkelbach, spokesman for America's Health Insurance Plans, a trade group for health insurance companies.
