National Climate Archive Online

Provides direct access to historical climate data for specific locations and dates.

Canadian Climate Normals

Climate averages and extremes (e.g. temperature and precipitation) for Canadian locations with at least 15 years of data between 1971 and 2000.

Hydrometric Real-time Data

Public access to real-time water level and streamflow data collected at over 1200 locations in Canada through federal-provincial and federal-territorial cost-sharing agreements. Textual search (http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/formNav.asp?lang=0) and Graphical Search (http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/selectProvince.asp) available. Also, the capability of setting up a user profile is available (http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/disclaimerB.asp?lang=0).

Archived Hydrometric Data

Public access to historical water level and streamflow data, which were collected at over 8000 locations in Canada through federal-provincial and federal-territorial cost-sharing agreements. Textual search by Station or Location is available (http://www.wsc.ec.gc.ca/hydat/H2O/index_e.cfm?cname=main_e.cfm).
Graphical search will be available shortly. Also available are the following:

Archived Suspended Sediment Data

Public access to historical suspended sediment data, which were collected at over 800 locations in Canada through federal-provincial and federal-territorial cost-sharing agreements. Graphical search will be available shortly.

Drought Watch (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada)

Provides timely information of the impacts of climatic variability on water supply and agriculture using data from Environment Canada and other sources. Products include: current and historical maps of precipitation, temperature, growing degree days and drought indices.

Atlas of Canada - Natural Resources Canada (Climate)

Offers information and maps on snow cover, minimum and maximum temperatures, and precipitation. Environment Canada and other data sources are used for the production of these maps.

Climate Trends and Variations Bulletin

Climate Trends and Variations Bulletin (CTVB) places the most recent season's or year's temperatures and precipitation values in historical context by utilizing timely data sets from synoptic weather reporting stations in Canada and historical homogenized climate data.

A cross-country summary of averages and extremes for one month.

Canadian Cities are Weather Winners

David Phillips, Environment Canada's Senior Climatologist, and the nation's favourite weather guru, has analyzed 30 years of weather data for Canada's 100 largest cities to provide the ranking of Canadian cities based on various weather categories (such as the hottest summer, the coldest summer, most freezing rain days).

Province-Territory Weather Winners

Province-Territory Weather Winners looks at how each Canadian province and territory ranks in 70 different weather categories (such as the coldest/warmest province or territory year-around, the province or territory with the most heavy snow days). Data for 30 years from 150 weather stations, representative of the geography in each province and territory, were used to compute averages for each jurisdiction.

Chances of White Christmas

Environment Canada has analyzed several years of MSC weather records for major centres across Canada, and calculated the probability of having a white snow-covered Christmas Day.
