If you own a 2002 or 2003 North American edition of Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe or Encarta Reference Library, you are automatically eligible for free membership to MSN Learning & Research Plus. (Encarta 2001 and earlier are no longer eligible.)

To get your free membership, you'll need to join Club Encarta*. This is something you can only do from your Encarta CD or DVD. Print these instructions so you can refer to them when you open your Encarta CD or DVD.

  • Launch Encarta: Get your Encarta disk number 2 and insert it in your computer's disk drive (if you copied Encarta to your hard drive you may skip this step)

  • After Encarta has opened, click Help on the black bar at the top of the Encarta home screen

  • Click Join Club Encarta

  • Click Join Now! and follow the instructions provided -- be sure to note the Microsoft® .NET Passport sign-in name and password you use with your Club Encarta membership

  • Having trouble signing in? Get help.

    MSN Learning & Research Plus is one of the benefits of membership in Club Encarta*. If you have joined Club Encarta but aren't sure you have a free membership to MSN Learning & Research Plus, check your Club Encarta membership benefits.

    Encarta Online came with my computer
    One year of free membership to MSN Learning & Research Plus is included with some new personal computers. You are eligible for membership to Encarta Online and MSN Learning & Research Plus if your computer came with an Encarta Online icon.

    To register for your free access:
    1. Click on the Encarta Online Deluxe icon (the icon is either on your desktop or in the Start menu, depending on where the computer manufacturer put it)
    2. Follow the instructions provided (the first time you click on the icon, you will be asked to join Club Encarta)
