G20 summit: EU advocates coordinated exit strategy
Defending its emphasis on budget discipline, the EU is urging the G20 leaders to begin phasing out spending measures introduced during the economic crisis to stimulate growth but which left many countries deeper in debt.
EU-US sign new "open skies" deal
Expanding on a 2007 agreement, the new deal allows European and American airlines to take majority stakes in carriers on each side of the Atlantic. It would also allow European planes to fly in and out of the US without landing or taking off in the EU. But it still requires approval by the US Congress.

ECB wants stronger and more independent monitoring of countries’ debt and deficit levels and “quasi-automatic” sanctions, including more stringent reporting requirements or even suspensions of voting rights for rule breakers. It also stresses the need for policies to raise productivity, enhance people’s skills and improve firms’ competitiveness.
