ABEL: DOCUMENT DELIVERY

The items of the Official Journal you are interested in

Delivery of selected pages of the Official Journal L and C series by fax or by mail: ABEL. The Official Journal of the European Communities is the principal publication of the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities (EUR-OP). It is published in all official EU languages and represents over 860 000 printed pages per year. The full text of the documents is stored in facsimile format in an optical archive from which it can be ordered via ABEL on-line and delivery by fax or by mail.


LEGISLATION, CASE-LAW AND PREPARATORY WORK

The complete EU law in force: CELEX

CELEX is the computerised interinstitutional documentation system for Union law. It contains the whole body of European Union law from the founding treaties to the latest proposals from the Commission for new legislation. Extended indexing and sophisticated cross-referencing features make it possible to discover the state of a legal act at any given point in time. More info on CELEX available. A CELEX version on the net is announced for early 1997.


ECLAS: THE COMMISSION'S LIBRARY

Access to publications on the EU

ECLAS is the electronic catalogue of the Central Library of the European Commission, containing ± 130 000 bibliographical references covering all aspects of European integration. The sources of information are books, EU publications, intergovernmental publications, working documents from the institutions, specialist journals, university theses etc. The documents in ECLAS are always in their original language.


STATISTICS ON THE EU ECONOMY: EUROCRON

The database EUROCRON contains statistical data in tabular form covering the main sectors of the economy in the Member States of the European Union. It consists of three subsets dealing with general statistics of EU economy (Eurostatistics), survey of the structure of agricultural holdings (Farmstat) and the macroeconomic assessment of EU regions (Regiostat). Eurostatistics presents and analyses the main macroeconomic indicators needed for short-term monitoring of economic activity in the Member States. Regiostat contains a homogeneous selection of regional statistics and is designed to permit a basic macroeconomic assessment of EU regions. Farmstat summarises the main results of the most recent survey of the structure of agricultural holdings in the Member States. EUROCRON is available on-line in English, French and German.


SINGLE MARKET LEGISLATION: INFO 92

INFO 92 is an information system on the state of the implementation of the Single Market. The database is covering the state of the implementation of the Single Market and the Social Charter (description of the relevant directives), including the incorporation of Union directives into the national legislation of the Member States. Info 92 is available in all EU languages and is updated as often as new information is received (one or more times per day).


OIL PRICES

The thematic database OIL provides prices of petroleum products without customs, duties and taxes. Oil is available on-line in English, French and German.


DAILY PRESS INFORMATION

RAPID is the daily spokesman's service of the European Commission. The Commission's Spokesman's Service holds daily press meetings in Brussels. Over 700 accredited journalists participate in these information sessions where press releases covering all aspects of European Union affairs are distributed. The same press releases are immediately introduced into the RAPID database making it possible for users throughout the world to have access to timely, up-to-date information on European affairs directly from the source. RAPID is available on-line and off-line.


REFERENCES AND DOCUMENTS ON EU POLICY

SCAD is a bibliographical database containing references to articles from periodicals dealing with EU affairs, EU legislation, related preparatory works, and publications of EU institutions. SCAD records more than 190 000 titles and it covers the period from 1983, but all the proposals, opinions and sundry acts prior to 1983 and relating to the White Paper on completing the internal market have been added. SCAD is available on-line and off-line.


RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF ENERGY

The thematic database SESAME provides descriptions of research, development and technology projects in the energy sector. Information on the technical, financial and operational aspects of each project and, in numerous cases, data on manufacturers associated with the projects can be found in SESAME. It also includes data from the database INFOIL (containing details on hydrocarbon projects financed by the United Kingdom or Norway). SESAME is available on-line in English.


FIND "YOUR" EU CIVIL SERVANT

Who's who in the EU institutions

IDEA gives information on who's who in the European institutions. This database is the electronic representation of the interinstitutional directory of the EU, which displays the organigrams of the different European institutions. It contains the names of the heads of units, their postal addresses and a list of buildings where the EU institutions are housed. IDEA is available on-line in german, english and french.


EU PREPARATORY LEGISLATION

APC provides information on the stage reached in the interinstitutional procedure of all acts forwarded by the Commission (opinions, proposals, communications) to the Parliament, to the Council and to other institutions. The information is updated twice weekly and is available, on average, within less than a week of the event in question. APC is available on-line in French, titles in German and English.
