Bangkok police is looking for a Manchester taxi-driver

General NewsThe hunt is in for a Manchester taxi-driver who vanished almost one month ago, the day after his family was last seen alive. Mr Rahan Arshad, 36, is wanted in connection with their murders.

The bodies of his wife, Uzma Rahan, 32, and their children, sons Adam, 11, and Abbas, 8, and daughter Henna, 6, were found in their house at the address on Turves Road Manchester last Sunday.

All had been battered and had head wounds. The children were last seen alive on 28 July in their school.

The British police revealed on Friday that Mr Arshad flew to Bangkok on 29 July his car was found in a carpark at London's Heathrow airport, reported the English newspaper The Telegraph.

Detective Superintendent Martin Bottomley said that they had extended their search for him to other countries. Mr. Bottomley also said we liaising with forces abroad including Thailand and Pakistan.

Mr Arshad, who was born in Britain, believed that his wife, originally from Pakistan, was having an affair. According to neighbours, the couple had been having marital problems.

A man who knew the couple said that Mrs Arshad had once told him: 'Rahan thinks I've got a boyfriend, but I honestly haven't.'

Rahan Arshad, 36, was arrested Wednesday at the Padang Basar checkpoint in southern Thailand on the border with Malaysia.

"He went out and then came back in to renew his visa," a senior police official said on condition of anonymity because of policy. He said that Arshad left Thailand and re-entered at about 10:30 am Wednesday.
