Species at Risk
Provincial Coordination of Species at Risk Issues
The ILMB also provides government coordination of land
and resource issues that affect many sectors, such as
species at risk. Through the Species at Risk Coordination
Office (SaRCO) ILMB is mandated to work with stakeholders,
First Nations and all levels of government to address
the recovery of broad ranging species at risk, including
mountain caribou and spotted owl. In addition, SaRCO
is tasked with collaborating across government to ensure
B.C.’s approach to the management and, where appropriate,
recovery of provincial species at risk is second to
none.
