Labour Operations

The Operations Directorate ensures consistent and cost-effective implementation of Parts II and III of the Canada Labour Code (Occupational Safety and Health and Labour Standards), as well as the Employment Equity Act, Federal Contractors Program, Fair Wages and Hours of Labour Act, and the Non-Smokers' Health Act. The Directorate is also responsible for administering the Government Employees Compensation Act and Merchant Seamen Compensation Act. The Operations Directorate also administers Fire Protect ion Services on behalf of the Treasury Board. The Directorate carries out these responsibilities through headquarters operations and provides functional direction to offices in each of the ten HRDC regions.
