NEWSdem3d: Software for Viewing DEM Data (11/19/97) dem3d is Windows 95 software for viewing USGS Digital Elevation Models (DEM's). The USGS is offering an experimental version to the public for a limited time while additional testing and research are conducted. If favorable responses and results are received, the USGS may make the viewer available as a standard supplement to our DEM's. To download a copy of dem3d, a users manual, and retrieve sample DEM's, visit the dem3d home page. Landsat 7 Data Prices Announced (10/31/97) The Federal government has established prices for basic image-data products that will be available from the Landsat 7 Earth-observation satellite scheduled for launch in July 1998. FEATURESGet the Picture![]() The USGS sells National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP) photographs. The NAPP collection covers the lower 48 States, and the photographs are retaken approximately every 5 years. Photographs from the NAPP collection can be ordered online so you may wish to get a picture of your home area or perhaps your favorite shoreline recreation area or camp site. These photographs also make great gifts. SERVICE NOTESThis webserver has a new name: mapping.usgs.gov. The old name, www-nmd.usgs.gov, will continue to work for the foreseeable future. |
