Aaron Ahola

Deputy General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, Akamai Technologies

Aaron Ahola is the Deputy General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for Akamai Technologies. As Chief Privacy Officer Aaron oversees privacy strategy, policy and operations across Akamai's range technologies and products. Aaron has served on the Board of the Network Advertising Initiative since 2008.

In addition to his work on privacy issues, Aaron has broad legal experience across a wide variety of legal issues facing global technology companies, including corporate matters, litigation management, patent and intellectual property law, global compliance, commercial contracting, employment, risk management and public policy.

Prior to joining Akamai in 2000, Aaron worked as a corporate attorney first at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York and then at Ropes & Gray in Boston. Aaron received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Tufts University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.

Alan Chapell

President, Chapell and Associates

Alan Chapell sits on the NAI board on behalf of BlueKai. Chapell began his career at a boutique direct marketing agency in Stamford, Connecticut in the early 1990's. After several years at the agency, and after a long sabbatical in Mumbai, Chapell moved to New York City and to Jupiter Research, an Internet research firm focusing on the consumer Internet economy. During his 4-1/2 years at Jupiter, Chapell also attended Fordham University School of Law. 

Alan is the President of Chapell and Associates, a consulting firm that helps marketers build customer trust through responsible privacy practices. Chapell founded Chapell & Associates in October of 2003. Since then, his firm has helped over 100 media and technology companies craft their privacy and data strategies. He was appointed as privacy ombudsman by the U.S. Trustees Office in some of the largest bankruptcy cases in our nation’s history; including General Motors and Chrysler. In addition to his work on the Board of the Network Advertising Initiative, Chapell is Co-Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association's (MMA) Privacy Committee, a member of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Advisory Board, a member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and a prolific writer and sought-after speaker on interactive marketing topics.

Bruce Fogel

Chief Executive Officer, Intent IQ

Chief Executive Officer of Intent IQ LLC, a company which employs online behavioral and personal demographic data to deliver relevant, individually targeted TV ads when recognizing the computer, tablet or smart phone user watching TV.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Intent IQ, Bruce takes the lead in seeking strategic partnerships and tactical alliances for the company, as well as supervision of all marketing and sales functions and capital raising.

Bruce has created and grown a number of businesses into national successes, among them are Air Time, Sports Phone, Shadow Traffic®, Indoor Mall Marketing and TranStop®.

Douglas Miller

Global Privacy Leader, AOL

Douglas Miller, CIPP, is Global Privacy Leader at AOL Inc., overseeing a full range of privacy operations, guidance, education, and planning. Prior to becoming a full-time privacy professional in 1998, his AOL duties included child and teen protection, online conduct, content and advertising guidelines, anti-spam initiatives, and consumer safety and security. Before joining AOL, he led government affairs for the Software Publishers Association. From 2004-07, he taught courses in Internet Policy and Computer Ethics at Old Dominion University. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Network Advertising Initiative, the Advisory Board of the Future of Privacy Forum, and the Education Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Jason Bier

Chief Privacy Officer, ValueClick

Jason Bier is ValueClick's Chief Privacy Officer. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals. 

Jason served as Dotomi's Chief Privacy Officer & In-House Counsel until ValueClick's acquisition of Dotomi in 2011. Prior to Dotomi, he spent six years as a partner at the Chicago law firm of Bier & Gutstein. His practice consisted of business transactions, real estate, and trial work. He successfully brought and won numerous lawsuits representing consumers in actions involving consumer fraud, violations of federal and state securities laws, and foreclosure defense. Jason received the Chicago Bar Association's Rising Star Award in 2004.

Jason earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business before continuing his legal education at Pace University School of Law. During law school Jason represented consumers in the nation's first securities arbitration clinic, was an editor on Pace University's Environmental Law Review, and completed internships at the British Parliament in London and the New York City Department of Investigations in Manhattan.

Nicholas Judge

Senior Privacy Program Manager, Microsoft Corp.

Nicholas leads privacy compliance and strategy for Microsoft Advertising, part of the Microsoft's Online Services Division. Working with many business, engineering, policy, and legal teams across Microsoft, Nicholas balances business need with privacy requirements and a forward-thinking view of the most appropriate collection, and use of Microsoft customers' personal information.

Prior to his role with Microsoft Advertising, Nicholas lead privacy within the Windows division, with oversight and responsibility for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows 7, driving the vision of empowering customers to control the collection, use, and distribution of their personal information.

Nicholas has been deeply involved in the development and implementation of Microsoft's comprehensive privacy process for product development, and has spent time focused on the privacy implications of both client side product development, and online privacy requirements. 

Prior to his 15 years with Microsoft, Nicholas led IT projects with Bell Sygma, Origin Technologies, Baan Corp, and Honeywell Corp.

Noga Rosenthal

Senior Vice President and General Counsel, 24/7 Real Media and Media Innovation

Noga Rosenthal, CIPP, is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of 24/7 Real Media, Inc. and Media Innovation Group, LLC, WPP plc companies.

24/7 Real Media, Inc. provides digital marketing solutions for advertisers and publishers globally through its various products and services, including its award-winning ad management platform, Open AdStream(R), and its Global Web Alliance of high quality publisher websites. Media Innovation Group develops and owns numerous technology products and uses its strategic partnerships to dramatically increase the performance of digital advertising.

As General Counsel of these companies, Noga works to ensure that users' privacy is taken into consideration when developing and creating new products and provides online advertising privacy training to colleagues and clients. She also advises her colleagues on international data protection laws.

Noga represents her companies as a member of each of the Advisory Board of the Digital Advertising Initiative, the Legal Affairs Council and Public Policy Council of the Interactive Advertising Bureau and the International Association of Privacy Professionals Education Advisory Board.

Prior to joining 24/7 Real Media, Noga served as Assistant Vice President at Sotheby's, Inc. and as a corporate associate at DLA Piper.

Noga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science from the Rutgers College and a J.D. from Fordham Law School. She is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars.

Robert Gratchner

Vice President of Privacy for Audience Science

Robert Gratchner, Certified Privacy Professional, drives the effort in setting and execution of AudienceScience's privacy direction, strategies and compliance. AudienceScience is a global digital marketing technology company enabling universal access to audiences through the AudienceScience Gateway.

Prior to his current position at Audience Science, Robert was a Director of Privacy and Online Safety with Microsoft. Robert worked with various teams within Microsoft's Online Services Group, including Microsoft Advertising, Bing and MSN, to develop, implement and ensure compliance with privacy and online safety standards and policies. In addition, he lead a dedicate team at Microsoft that developed innovative solutions for complex privacy problems to ensure end user privacy. Before joining Microsoft, Robert was Director of Privacy and Government Affairs at aQuantive and spent 10 years at Intel serving in various leadership roles included part of Intel's first privacy team.

Robert also works with various industry groups and associations to develop industry wide privacy standards and best practices. He has presented on a variety of privacy topics at a number of high profile events and with various organizations, government agencies and advocacy groups. He has also written numerous articles on the subject of privacy. He has been associated with NAI since 2006 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The College of Wooster and an MBA in Finance from the University of New Mexico.

Shane Wiley

Vice President of Privacy & Data Governance, Yahoo!

With over 20 years of experience in software engineering, product management, and policy related responsibilities, Shane is a recognized leader in developing sound policy solutions to cutting edge technology challenges. He received his undergraduate education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - B.S. Aerospace Engineering and is a Certified International Privacy Professional.

Will DeVries

Policy Counsel, Google

Will DeVries is Policy Counsel for Google, focusing on privacy, security and consumer protection. In that role, Will works on regulatory and legislative issues ranging from social networking to online advertising to government access to user data. He also teaches privacy and e-commerce law at the George Washington University Law School, and speaks regularly on related topics. Prior to Google, Will worked in the Communications, Privacy and Information Law group at WilmerHale LLP. Will is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
