We're interested in any kind of OAI-enabled metadata to collect in our service, but if you don't have your metadata enabled, we would be happy to do one or both of the following:
1. Assist you in helping make your metadata OAI-enabled. This is most easily achieved if you are a DLXS customer, since we include a broker with our DLXS middleware that is easily installed and used. However, we can also work with you to understand the necessary OAI protocol elements and the best method for implementation. We are a data provider as well as a service provider, so we have experience enabling our own data and helping others perform the enabling.
2. Receive a snapshot of collection metadata in whatever form you have it in. Currently, the OAI protocol requires unqualified Dublin Core, in addition to other metadata formats you may use. We are building a transformation library in order to use any kind of metadata format potential data providers may have. We're interested in metadata from any collections you want to make public.
The end result is the inclusion of your metadata in our service -- a service that will soon contain over 2 million metadata records from 100 or more institutions -- thus making your collections much more publicly available than they are at present.
If you're interested in being part of the service, please contact Kat Hagedorn.
