Intersectorial cooperation |
How is UNESCO dealing with the need for an intersectorial approach to ethics, especially in relation to the Natural Sciences Sector? |
It was decided that two particular activities from the COMEST agenda - the ethics of fresh water and the ethics of information society – should be dealt with in closer cooperation with the Natural Sciences Sector and the Communication and Information Sector respectively, making full use of UNESCO’s intersectorial potential. Intersectorial cooperation is crucial and ethics of science and technology cannot be elaborated without cooperation with the Natural Sciences Sector. At the same time, ethics as a humanistic approach is essentially rooted in philosophy and human rights. The Social and Human Sciences Sector is looking forward to joint activities, co-run by its divisions and sections and the counterpart divisions and sections in the Natural Sciences Sector. |
