North Coast Land and
Resource Management Plan
Cabinet has endorsed the initiation of the North
Coast Land and Resource Management Plan. The plan
will support sustainable economic development by
contributing to the economic well being of First
Nations and coastal communities and protecting the
environmental values unique to the North Coast of
BC.
The process is intended to reflect government's
new streamlined approach to land use planning with
an emphasis on smaller table size, tighter timeframes
and enhanced government leadership.
The plan will cover the area between Princess Royal
Island and the town of Stewart and will focus on
terrestrial issues. Marine and coastal zone issues
will be subject to separate planning processes.
