Australian Content

One of the ABA's objectives is to promote the role of broadcasting in developing and reflecting a sense of Australian identity character and cultural diversity.

Australian content on commercial television is regulated by mandatory ABA standards relating to programs and advertisements. There are legislative provisions that require the pay TV industry to spend on new eligible (Australian and New Zealand) drama programs
