Past Canadian Forces Domestic Operations

The following domestic operations are examples of when the Navy, Army and Air Force were asked to help civil authorities in order to protect Canadians.

Op Lyre (Souris, Manitoba) - LFWA soldiers were deployed to assist with sandbagging in Souris, Manitoba - July, 2011.

Op Lustre (Manitoba) - Joint Task Force West was delployed to assist in southern Manitoba with flooding on the Assiniboine River - June 2011.

Op Podium (British Columbia) - The Canadian Force's supoort to the 2010 Winter Olympics. It was Canada's largest joint domestic operation.

Op Peregrine (British Columbia) - The Canadian Force's  assistance to the B.C. government's firefighting efforts.  August 3 - September 16, 2003.

Op Grizzly (Kananaskis Country, Alberta) - The Canadian Forces support to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and the RCMP for the G8 Summit  held in Kananaskis, Alberta in June 2002.

Op Plume (Gibbons, Alberta)  -  LFWA soldiers help fight fires in the Gibbons and Redwater, Alberta area in June, 2002.
