Commission 36 is part of the IAU Division IV - Stars, which organizes astronomers studying the characterization, interior and atmospheric structure, and evolution of stars of all masses, ages, and chemical compositions. Its president for 2000-2003 is Beatriz Barbuy, São Paolo.
