Rapid technological change has often forced businesses and institutions, even those working in the same language and subject area, to use different terms to designate the same concept in the same field. The federal government has not escaped this proliferation of terms.
The Translation Bureau, whose responsibilities include standardizing terminology used in the federal Public Service, publishes vocabularies and terminology bulletins (over one hundred titles to date) in many areas of government activity. These publications are available to people in Canada and around the world and have become essential working tools for language professionals and for the general public.
Some of our publications are available free of charge and can be consulted on-line or downloaded, while others can be purchased in hard copy or electronic form. Please note that our publications are bilingual (English-French, French-English), unless stated otherwise.
