Urban regeneration

South Bank development along Belvedere Road and Upper Ground, funded by the Cross River Partnership The Corporation recognises that the City of London will not prosper in isolation and is acutely aware that although the Square Mile houses some of the richest concentrations of economic business in the world, its neighbours include some of the UK's most deprived communities. For this reason the Corporation is involved in five partnerships and various other alliances working across 17 of London's boroughs to bring lasting social, economic and physical regeneration.

In addition, the Corporation uses its unique position to engage the City in projects that will directly benefit local residents and small businesses in neighbouring boroughs. One way for City business to get involved is by entering the Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards for corporate community involvement.

The Corporation's role within the partnerships ranges from acting as accountable body for the City Fringe Partnership and the Pool of London Partnership, providing representation on board and management groups, sharing expertise (transport, education, legal) and using its influence and resources by contributing financially (match funding, subscription fees, investment), engaging City firms in local community work and ensuring that local people benefit from City expansion.

This work is co-ordinated by the partnerships and community affairs teams within the Corporation's economic development and education office. Email or tel 020 7332 3642.
