Corporate community involvement

City commuters in the rush hourThe Corporation of London is committed to promoting corporate community involvement, encouraging City firms to help communities in neighbouring boroughs. This responsibility is fulfilled through involvement in a number of initiatives including City Action for Community Development, the Heart of the City initiative, of which the Corporation is a major partner, and the Corporation's own Business Traineeship Scheme, which encourages City firms to look to local communities to meet their recruitment needs. It is hoped that a national purchasing initiative by the Corporation could eventually be adopted also by City firms using purchasing power to revitalise adjoining business communities.

In addition, the Corporation supports the community programmes delivered by the partnerships with which it is involved, particularly the City Fringe Partnership and the Cross River Partnership.

Underpinning the Corporation of London's community affairs work are the Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards for corporate community involvement in London, an annual celebration of firms from across London who are actively helping their local communities.
