Briefing meeting on the organization of the FAO/WHO Pan-African Conference on Food Safety

On the occasion of the forthcoming 27th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Geneva, 28 June - 3 July 2004), FAO and WHO will be convening a brief meeting with all African delegations to inform them of plans to organize a Pan African Conference on Food Safety. The meeting will take place at 18:00 hours on 29 June in Salle 18 at the International Conference Centre in Geneva and will be held in English and French. The objective of the meeting is to exchange views and ideas on the technical content of the Conference; possible sources of funding; possible side events and date and place of the Conference.

FAO/WHO Regional Conference on Food Safety for Latin America and the Caribbean

Preliminary meeting

FAO and WHO will convene a preliminary meeting with delegates from the Latin America and the Caribbean Region who will be attending the 27th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Geneva, 28 June to 3 July 2004). This meeting is scheduled to take place at 14.30 hours on Friday 2 July 2004 in Salle I at the CICG in Geneva. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain confirmation from the countries of the region of their interest in convening the proposed Conference; to discuss and receive guidance on the topics to be covered at this Conference, and to consider the support needed, including in-kind support and extra-budgetary financial resources, to ensure adequate preparation and the participation of a maximum number of countries from the region.
