Council of Europe and OSCE discuss situation in Georgia
[15/09/2008 18:30:00] Carl Bildt, the Committee of Ministers chairman, met Finland’s Foreign Minister and OSCE chairman Alexander Stubb in Brussels on 15 September and discussed common interests including the situation in Georgia. They called for strict adherence to the six-point ceasefire agreement and declared ''fundamental'' the return of Russian troops to their positions held prior to 7 August. They also agreed on the importance of continuing to assess the overall human rights situation in the war-affected areas, including South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Moneyval publishes its first evaluation report on Israel
[17/09/2008 12:00:00] On 17 September, the Moneyval Committee (Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism) published its first evaluation report on Israel, an active observer to Moneyval.
The report analyses the country’s implementation of international and European standards to combat money laundering and terrorist financing and assesses levels of compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) 40+9 Recommendations.

Serbia must complete programme of reforms, says Monitoring Committee
[15/09/2008 16:00:00] ''Serbia must complete its programme of reforms,'' said Charles Goerens and Andreas Gross, the Assembly’s co-rapporteurs for the honouring of obligations and commitments by Serbia.
In a draft report made public on 15 September, the Monitoring Committee said the strengthening of democratic institutions and concrete implementation of reforms can but further Serbia's European integration.
