Science Fiction and Fantasy
at Comic-Con 2004
Longtime visitors to Comic-Con International in San Diego know that the twin
worlds of science fiction and fantasy have always been part of the show's great
line-up of guests and programming. From Ray Bradbury appearing at the very first
Comic-Con to Neil Gaiman, R. A. Salvatore and oh, yeah, that Bradbury guy again
in 2003, 34 years later, the event has seen a stellar assortment of the very
best authors and artists. Well, all of that changed in 2004, with the most
impressive line-up of writers and artists ever!
In addition to Comic-Con special guests Kevin J. Anderson,

And wasn't all!
In addition to the authors listed above, Comic-Con boasted
one of the largest gatherings of science fiction and fantasy artists ever!
Special guests Roger Dean and Donato Giancola headed up an all-star group with a
special section in the Exhibit Hall all their own. Other artists appearing at
Comic-Con included Charles Vess, Michael Kaluta, Amy Brown, Brian Froud, Wendy
Froud, Toby Froud, Robert Gould, Ruth Thompson, Brom, Ciruelo Jeff Watts and
more. Exhibitors included Green Man Press, Chimera, Ruth Thompson's Tarnished
Images, Imaginosis and Ciruelo - Fantasy Art. Spotlights on our special guests
(Thursday, July 22) and Donato Giancola (Sunday, July 25), plus a
special drawing demo by Mr. Giancola (Thursday, July 22) and a once-in-a-lifetime panel uniting some of the top names in art on Friday, July 23 from
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
