Role
The Culture and Recreation
Advisory Committee (CRAC) is an advisory body to the Commonwealth Department
of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. Its role is to support
the development and successful operation of the Culture and Recreation Portal.
Terms of Reference
The purpose of CRAC is:
- To advise on the development of the Culture
and Recreation Portal with particular reference to the usefulness, accessibility
and attractiveness of the service to the cultural and recreation sectors
and to the wider community.
- To advise on the achievement of the following
objectives:
- To develop Australia's
Cultural and Recreation Portal as the
premier cultural portal for online access to Australian arts, culture
and recreation;
- To integrate its redevelopment with the Government
Online Strategy for customer focussed portals;
- To establish the site as a resource
for other online developments; and
- To develop the online capacity and
innovation of the organisations in the culture and recreation sectors
whose sites are linked to/from the culture and recreation portal.
Membership
Representation is drawn from the following
organisations:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission;
- Arts Victoria;
- ArtsWA;
- Australia Council for the Arts;
- Australian Film Commission;
- Australian Network for Art and Technology;
- Australian Sports Commission;
- Department of Communications, Information
Technology and the Arts;
- Department of Environment and Heritage;
- Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade;
- Department of Industry, Science and Resources;
- National Archives of Australia;
- National Library of Australia;
- National Office for the Information Economy;
- Special Broadcasting Service (SBS); and
- A representative from the events and festivals
sector.
Membership of the committee is for two years.
