General privacy information
The Culture and Recreation Portal uses both Commonwealth
and commercial web hosting facilities. When visiting this site, a record
of your visit is logged. The following information, supplied by your browser,
is recorded for statistical purposes and is used by the Culture and Recreation
Portal to help improve the site:
- the user's server address
- the user's operating system (for example Windows,
Mac etc)
- the user's top level domain name (for example
.com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
- the date and time of the visit to the site
- the screens accessed and the documents downloaded
- the previous site visited
- the type of browser used.
No attempt will be made to identify users or
their browsing activities except in circumstances in which the identification
is legally authorised or required, such as in the investigation of a criminal
offence, or in compliance with a search warrant or subpeona.
Cookies
The Culture and Receation Portal
only uses "session cookies" for maintaining navigation details
when searching. These cookies do not remain on your computer after completion
of an Internet session.
Email feedback
We seek feedback from our users in order to improve the service offered
by the site. Answering feedback questions is voluntary and does not in any
way affect your access to the Culture and Recreation Portal site. When you
email the editor at the portal (editor@cultureandrecreation.gov.au), your
feedback will be read and considered by the DCITA staff working on the portal.
When you email our technical feedback address (tech@cultureandrecreation.gov.au)
your email may be read and actioned by contractors who are bound by confidentiality
and privacy agreements.
Collection of personal
information
When you suggest your site for listing and indexing
by the Culture and Recreation Portal we use the email contact address supplied
on the suggestion form for sending you an electronic newsletter for owners
of sites listed and indexed by us.
When you email us we will record your e-mail
address and only use it for the purpose for which you provided it. It will
not be added to a mailing list unless you have specifically requested this.
We will not use your email address for any other purpose and we will not
disclose it without your consent.
Other personal information collected by us,
for example through the use of an online form, will only be collected by
lawful and fair means and used for a lawful purpose. It will be collected
with your consent, and the purpose for collection should be clear and explicit.
