Our Vehicles

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team run a fleet of four ambulances, which are a mixture of new and second hand vehicles.Calder Mobile 1

Calder Mobile 1 - Landrover Defender 110

Mobile 1 is the newest vehicle on the fleet and is our primary response vehicle.  It is based at the Rescue Post in Mytholmroyd.

It has been specially converted for Mountain Rescue and can carry up to five team members as well as their personal equipment.  Mobile 1 also carries two stretchers, a full crag rescue kit, vacuum mattress and advanced first aid equipment.  It can be configured to carry a patient on a stretcher and a Casualty Carer.

Mobile 1 was purchased with the assistance of a donation by the West Yorkshire Freemasons, and entered service in early 2011.

 

Calder Mobile 2 - Landrover Defender 110

 

Mobile 2 is based at Todmorden Ambulance Station and has also been specially converted for Mountain Rescue and can carry up to five team members as well as their personal equipment.  Mobile 2 carries a stretcher, vacuum mattress and advanced first aid equipment.  It can be converted so that it can carry driver, one patient on a stretcher and their Casualty Carer.

Mobile 2 was specially commissioned by the Team following a motorway accident that wrote off the previous vehicle.  The new vehicle was purchased with the help of the Halifax Bank and entered service in 2003.

 

Calder Mobile 3 - Landrover Defender 110

Mobile 3 is our latest acquisition, a second-hand vehicle bought from Oldham Team. Mobile 3 is based at Lloyds' Copley Data Centre. It is fitted with a winch and is the vehicle that the team use for carrying up to 8 team members and their equipment.

Mobile 3 entered service with Calder Valley in spring 2011.


Calder Mobile 4 - Vauxhall Movano

Mobile 4 is the team's command and control vehicle and has been specially fitted out to cope with the various demands of Mountain Rescue work.  Inside is room for up to four team members who can operate the radios, plan searches, liaise with the Police and Ambulance services, create and print highly detailed maps and manage the deployment of resources.  There is also room for less frequently used items of equipment in the rear of the vehicle and of course the all important brew kit!

Mobile 4 entered service in 2002.

Dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Police, then Mountain Rescue.
