Call for expressions of interest for a position within the European Food Safety Authority (Parma) - Senior statistician (m/f) - (Assessment Methodology Unit) - Grade AD9 - (Ref.: EFSA/X/AST/2007/040)

The job

Support the conduct of risk assessment and epidemiological analyses. Conduct statistical and peer review statistical reports provided to EFSA.

Specific tasks include:
  • Contribution to the design and statistical analysis of epidemiological studies; 
  • Collation, analysis and reporting of scientific information and data as well as coordination of such activities; 
  • Statistical analysis of large sets of observational data;
  • Statistical review and analysis of designed experiments;
  • Contribute to qualitative or quantitative risk assessment in the area of food and feed safety;
  • Evaluation of scientific information in the area of statistics;
  • Coordination of the scientific activities of expert working groups comprising external scientists and/or experts from the Member States;
  • Co-ordination of and participation in meetings, workshops and training sessions regarding quantitative risk assessment, study design, and statistical methods;
  • Cooperation and liaising with the Commission services and other relevant Community Agencies and structures, as well as other international organisations such as the OIE, the FAO and the WHO;
  • Preparation of working documents, guidelines and scientific reports;
  • Follow-up of scientific and regulatory developments related to risk assessments within EFSA’s mission;
  • Internal communication: contribution to the coordination, harmonisation and implementation of activities and procedures of the Authority;
  • External communication: setting-up networks with competent institutions in EU Member States and with other international organisations active in similar areas as EFSA; handling of external requests for information relevant to the work of the Unit, including requests from other European Institutions, International Bodies, Member States and the general public.

The jobholder reports to the Head of Assessment Methodology Unit.
