Demandes et mandats
Requests for opinions are received by EFSA mainly from the European Commission, occasionally from the European Parliament. Member States can also request opinions. The requests outline what is being asked of EFSA: the issue, the terms of reference, the timeframe in which an opinion is requested etc. Following receipt of the request, EFSA will consider its contents, discuss it with the Commission and address any issues that need clarifying. It will also consider issues such as the feasibility of the deadline requested. Following these discussions a mandate will be agreed between EFSA and the Commission, which will include the final terms of reference and mutually agreed deadline.
