[Class C-201] Facility Information: General Background Information

This class relates to CCLRC's three major facilities: ISIS - the world's most powerful pulsed neutron and muon source used for experiments in chemistry, physics and engineering to study the atomic structure and dynamics of materials; the SRS (Synchrotron Radiation Source) the UK's brightest source of ultraviolet light and X-rays, used to study materials and life sciences; and the Central Laser Facility (CLF), which is a world leading centre for research using lasers - facilities available to users include the Vulcan Nd: glass laser which delivers multi-TW beams to three target areas, the Astra ultra-short pulse interaction facility based on titanium sapphire laser technology, a range of state of the art table top laser systems and specialised diagnostic instruments within the Lasers for Science Facility and the Laser Loan Pool.
