Cariboo Fire Injuns Unit Crew

The Cariboo Fire Injuns are a 20-person Unit Crew stationed at the Cariboo Fire Centre in Williams Lake. They are specially trained to battle large fires in rough terrain. They are self-contained and can fight wildfires for up to three days, before additional supplies are required.

The Cariboo Fire Injuns are one of 18 Native Unit Crews in B.C., and are a part of the Native Unit Crew Program, implemented in 1991, whose goal is to increase participation of native people in the B.C. Forest Service.
