Celebrating 50 Years
50th photo exhibit

This year marks an important milestone. Fifty years ago—for the first time—a Canadian citizen was named as Governor General of Canada.

Since 1952, nine remarkable Canadians have served as Governor General. They have come from different regions and backgrounds, reflecting the diverse nature of our society. This collection of 43 photos is built around three themes: On Duty, Real people and Going Places. Click on the photos below for a glimpse of Canadian Governors General carrying out their duties with grace and intellect, proving to be a source of inspiration for Canadians and serving their country well.
