Governor General to attend Opening Performance of the third Toronto International Choral Festival

OTTAWA - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, will attend the opening performance of the third Toronto International Choral Festival titled “THE JOY OF SINGING within the Noise of the World” at Massey Hall in Toronto on Friday, May 31, at 8 p.m.

As the Festival’s Honorary Patron, the Governor General will witness world-known Polish composer Kzysztof Penderecki leading all-Canadian choirs and soloists in the Toronto premiere of his celebrated work, Credo and world premiere of his work written especially for the Toronto Children’s Chorus. The 2002 Festival runs from May 31 - June 22, 2002 and will include forty concerts by choirs from three continents who will perform alongside Canadian choirs from across the country.
