Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Olga Ilich joins acting Rossland Mayor Greg Granstrom (l) and Red Resort owner Howard Kakov (r) at the ceremonial groundbreaking for Slalom Creek, a $35-million luxury condo project at Red Resort. The new development marks a significant investment in the Rossland economy, and is expected to generate close to 17,000 additional skier visits each year.

PROVINCIAL SUBMISSION DECRIES U.S. PASSPORT PLAN
 
VICTORIA – The adverse effects of the proposed Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) are set out in the Province of B.C.’s submission to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The proposed initiative would require American citizens to show passports in order to return to the U.S.

TEAM BC SECOND IN TEAM STANDINGS AT SUMMER GAMES
 
VANCOUVER – After 15 days of competition at the Canada Summer Games in Regina, Saskatchewan, Team BC emerged in second place in the overall team standings with 223 points to Ontario’s 259 points, and ahead of Quebec with 208.5 points.

PROVINCE COMMITS $1 MILLION FOR NEW CRYSTAL GARDEN ROOF
 
VICTORIA - The Province will invest $1 million to replace the glass roof on the 80-year-old Crystal Garden to help ensure the heritage building remains structurally sound and financially viable for the next 80 years, Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Olga Ilich announced.
