IMMIGRATION AGREEMENT ATTRACTS ENTREPRENEURS TO B.C.

BURNABY – The Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and the Honourable Colin Hansen, Economic Development Minister for British Columbia, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will help speed up the process for immigrant entrepreneurs to get to British Columbia.

VANCOUVER – Alcan’s announcement that it plans to invest $2 billion to upgrade its Kitimat smelter with modern and more efficient technology highlights B.C.’s international competitiveness, and this investment will serve as an important basis for continued economic prosperity in B.C.’s Northwest, Premier Gordon Campbell said.

VICTORIA – Four new Olympic/Paralympic Live Sites projects will be developed across B.C., sharing in more than $600,000 in provincial government funding.

LIVE SITES FUNDING TO HELP BUILD SKATEBOARD PARK

CAMPBELL RIVER – The City of Campbell River is receiving $220,200 from the B.C. government’s Olympic/Paralympic Live Sites program to build a large, new skateboard park, Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Tom Christensen announced.

The Ministry of Economic Development is the primary provincial agency for creating a strong, prosperous and diverse provincial economy.
