Ministers Richard Neufeld and Rick Thorpe watch the lowering of an Oceaneering International Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) submersible over the side of the ConocoPhillip's Deepwater Pathfinder drillship. The ministers toured the Deepwater Pathfinder in the Gulf of Mexico while in Texas promoting British Columbia energy companies and technology at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, May 5-6.

U.K. MISSION TO ATTRACT MINERAL EXPLORATION, INVESTMENT
 
VICTORIA – For the first time in 10 years the Minister of Energy and Mines and the mining industry are heading to one of the world capitals to promote investment for mining exploration in B.C. Energy and mines minister Richard Neufeld, in conjunction with the British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines (BCYCM), is leading a mining investment mission to London, U.K. Sept. 22 – 26.

VICTORIA – The largest monthly sale of petroleum and natural gas rights in the province’s history occurred yesterday, with sales of over $418 million for the month of September, matching the record previously set for an entire fiscal year in 2000-01.

TAX EXEMPTION TO ENCOURAGE CLEAN ENERGY
 
SQUAMISH – Government is providing a social service tax exemption for manufactured penstock and related equipment as part of British Columbia’s new energy plan, Energy and Mines Minister Richard Neufeld and Finance Minister Gary Collins announced today. The announcement was made at the groundbreaking ceremony of Eaton Power Corporation’s Furry Creek run-of-the-river hydroelectric facility near Squamish.
