IGBP on Facebook:

From Dan's column about Billy Lucas:

"Billy Lucas was just 15 when he hanged himself in a barn on his grandmother's property. He reportedly endured intense bullying at the hands of his classmates—classmates who called him a fag and told him to kill himself. His mother found his body.... I wish I could have talked to this kid for five minutes. I wish I could have told Billy that it gets better. I wish I could have told him that, however bad things were, however isolated and alone he was, it gets better.

"But gay adults aren't allowed to talk to these kids. Schools and churches don't bring us in to talk to teenagers who are being bullied. Many of these kids have homophobic parents who believe that they can prevent their gay children from growing up to be gay—or from ever coming out—by depriving them of information, resources, and positive role models.

"Why are we waiting for permission to talk to these kids? We have the ability to talk directly to them right now. We don't have to wait for permission to let them know that it gets better. We can reach these kids."

HEY: We have reached the max number of videos that we can add to our "favorites" on this channel. We are working on a stand-alone website that can host more videos. But for now WE CAN'T ADD MORE VIDEOS TO THE FAVORITE LIST. Sorry about that.

Please feel free to keep making and posting videos, include IT GETS BETTER in the title, and rest assured that your video can be found and viewed. But for the moment we can't add it to this page. Sorry about that.

Thanks Dan for starting this, and to everyone who has contributed. This is God's work, a powerful testament for the anguished, trampled youth who feels it will never get better. It will get better, and you should be alive to see it - and joyfully experience it.

This is amazing. If there's one thing America SHOULD be about it's this: Accepting people for who they are and loving them with all there quirks and differences. Not one person is the same and not one person is "normal". That word shouldn't really exist. No matter who you are, you should BE excepted, and know that on your roller-coaster of life you might not be on top, but that's the thing about roller-coasters: one moment your at the lowest point and the next you're on top of the world. Always remember that sometimes the saddest times in your life are what make your happy time the sweetest. Live, love, and be free. Keep up the good fight!

After being saddened and appalled by America's recent anti-gay sentiment, these guys make me proud to be a member of the human race again. We need more honest, courageous, caring people like Dan and Terry. Perhaps love like theirs will help suicidal gay teens, embolden them to live past the bigotry, and find hope and happiness beyond our current societal disgrace.
