As the satellite providers continue to roll out markets where they offer local channels, there will be a shift from the PBS National Satellite Service to the local public television stations.

If you are a DBS customer and live in one of the country's largest cities, you now may be able to watch your local PBS station(s) on DIRECTV and DISH Network as a part of their local channels package.
