The PBS Adult Learning Service (ALS) broadcasts all of its programming via a digital signal. Live programming from ALS is additionally broadcast via an analog signal in both C-band and Ku-band.

To receive the encoded digital transmissions, you need an Integrated Receiver Decoder (IRD), specifically a General Instruments DSR-4000 or DSR-4200V. To find out what kind of equipment your organization has, call your media services or continuing education department.

In addition to the dish and receiver, the only other equipment you really need is a VCR and blank tapes.

Our customer service representatives are available to answer your questions and help you fine-tune your signal reception: send e-mail or call 1-800-257-2578 (weekdays 8:30 am to 5:30 pm ET).
