Exhibitions Introduction

The Royal Photographic Society stages three major touring photographic exhibitions: The International Print Exhibition and The International Projected Image Exhibition are both held annually and The Members' Exhibition is held biennially. There is also an exhibition of member's work shown each month at Fenton House, the headquarters of The Society in Bath, UK.

The International Print Exhibition

The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition is the longest standing exhibition of its kind in the world, celebrating it's 150th Anniversary in 2007. During its 150 year history it has gained a reputation for showcasing a wide range of genres and styles of photography, with cutting edge prints being shown alongside traditional work. The high profile of the exhibition's history, name and format ensures wide coverage by the photographic press and an enthusiastic response by gallery visitors. Each year the Exhibition of 125 selected images tours the UK and overseas. In recent years it has been shown in China and Ukraine. Society medals are awarded and the whole Exhibition is reproduced in a full colour catalogue and CD. Each entrant receives a complimentary copy of the catalogue. This open exhibition welcomes entries from members and non members of The Society.

The International Projected Image Exhibition

The International Slide Exhibition was renamed the International Projected Image Exhibition in 2007 with the addition of an Open Digital Section. It has been well established within the photographic fraternity for many years and continues to attract a very high entry worldwide. It is an open exhibition in which there are three categories: Open Digital, General Slide (excluding Nature) and Nature Slide. In addition to Society medals it has, for some years, been awarded recognition by the Photographic Society of America and all acceptances can be credited towards PSA Star Ratings.

The Members' Exhibition

The Society's Members' Exhibition is restricted to members of The Society and takes place every two years. It is a chance for members to showcase the high standard of their work and to demonstrate their commitment to the art and science of photography.
