ReachOut.com is a place where teens and young adults can improve their understanding of mental health issues, develop resilience, build their coping-skills and increase help-seeking behavior. It provides evidence-based information and supports, real life stories and the ability to connect and contribute in a safe and supported community.
Friends of Project 10
Project 10 envisions lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students as fully included and affirmed in the public school environment where justice, equality, and respect for all prevail. Since 1984 the mission of Project 10 has been to provide education and support for LBGT youth in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Project 10 works with students, faculty and staff to maintain safe, open, and inclusive campuses.
GLSEN
GLSEN is an education organization creating safe schools for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
The Jed Foundation
The Jed Foundation works nationally to reduce the rate of suicide and the prevalence of emotional distress among college and university students. To achieve this end, the organization collaborates with the public and leaders in higher education, mental health, and research to produce and advance initiatives.
The Matthew Shepard Foundation
The Matthew Shepard Foundation seeks to "Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion and Acceptance" through a variety of programs including school assemblies on diversity, outreach to LGBT and allied workplace resource groups, and advocacy for legal equality, as well as by providing a resource directory, youth blogs, and motivational interviews with LGBT and allied professionals and celebrities through its youth-oriented website, MatthewsPlace.com.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis. With more than 140 crisis centers across the country, their mission is to provide immediate assistance to anyone in emotional distress or seeking mental health services.
The National Youth Advocacy Coalition
The National Youth Advocacy Coalition (NYAC) is a national social justice organization working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people to strengthen the role of young people in the LGBTQ rights movement. NYAC is committed to representing the voices of young people - the largest living generation - within the broader LGBTQ and social justice movements. Through capacity building, advocacy and youthengagement, NYAC is building a generation of impact.
