Recreation Sites and Trails
On January 1, 2006 the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts
took over responsibility for forest recreation sites and trails from
the Ministry of Forests. |
More than 1,200 recreation sites are
located
around British Columbia for the camping enjoyment of residents and visitors to
the province. There are three types of recreation
sites: managed with fees, managed without fees, and user maintained.
There is also an extensive network of trails for those
wishing to experience British Columbia’s natural beauty.
The interactive map is a good place to start if you are a visitor to our province, new to camping or
just looking for somewhere other than your "favourite" spot.
A new and more detailed version will be posted soon.
Map users are encouraged to become familiar with this tool by taking some time to
run through a short
online
tutorial. Look through the list of recreation sites

and once you have decided where you would like to camp, go to the
interactive
map and click on the appropriate district.
Please be patient when the maps are loading. It can be a slow process due to the
amount of detail involved.
Information on whether a site is managed with or without fees, or is user
maintained, is available through the listing of
recreation sites found below.
