Strengthening the ethical mission of UNESCO
UNESCO refines, disseminates and promotes documents and dialogue concerning a universal ethics,a common substratum of values that lies beneath cultural diversity and is the foundation of both human rights and human responsibilities.

Enhancing the role of the Organization
as the intellectual arm of the UN system
UNESCO serves as an intellectual forum for reflection on the ethical implications of social and scientific transformation, exploring how such developments change our conception of human life and human interaction, as well as their normative implications.

To promote philosophy and value education
    throughout the world
UNESCO continues and expands its work to improve and facilitate philosophy education at the primary, secondary and university levels. In addition to curriculum development, this entails methodological study of learning approaches in education on philosophy and values.

To foster understanding of the global character
    of the philosophical heritage
UNESCO pursues its work in the field of intercultural philosophy, including studies of cultural difference and cultural dialogue, and publications bringing together an arrays of views on philosophical and ethical themes.
