Salt Lake City - The Utah Senate narrowly defeated legislation that would have mandated coverage for women's contraceptives by insurers that reimburse for prescription drugs. Most insurers offer contraception benefits, the industry says, but employers often chose not to pay for it.

Salt Lake City - An Orem man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in an Emery County chapel in 1997 while he was serving a mission for the Mormon church. Daniel Landeros faces up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine when he is sentenced April 6.
